Jade Indica, on a leash, in a corset, stockings and heels. Her long hair falls around her shoulders and she gazes forward. This bondage blog imagines her contemplating her submission, or perhaps she's lusting after her Trainer.

on the wings of love

Hello, faithful and faithless readers! I hope everyone is groovy and good. I also hope that y'all had an acceptable Valentines' Day that involved at least a little bit of chocolate. Unless you're allergic or something. Then I hope you got whatever sweet goody you can consume without going into anaphalactic shock.
Moving right along, I'm really disappointed in President Obama's decision to support nuclear power. I've always been of the understanding that it's not wise to shit where you eat. Nuclear power eventually equals nuclear waste which is the equivalent of shit on a universal scale. And while nuclear power may be "clean" in the short term, that shit takes ten thousand years, at least, to "no longer pose a threat." Seriously? What? We (as a society) are willing to use something that hazardous? Sometimes I honestly think that we (as a collective) totally deserve whatever is coming for being so idiotic. Right now the United States already has over ten thousand metric tons of nuclear waste. Do we really need more? Is nuclear energy really worth the risk? 27 of the nuclear reactors in the US are leaking. And we only have 104. That's in the one-quarter range. Those odds just don't work for me. Yes, it will reduce green house gases. Yes, it will create jobs in the areas where power plants are built. But we're just putting off paying the piper.
That's my not so humble opinion, though. YMMV. And I do understand that we can't keep burning coal. I don't understand why we (and our government) are simply accepting the rise in consumption. Instead of trying to accommodate the consumption, why not try to curb it? And why aren't we investing the $8 billion dollars pledged for the aforementioned nuclear power plants in sustainable energy? Like wind or solar. I'd even throw "clean coal" in there, although I suspect that's the yeti of energy.
It just makes me incredibly sad. And the sense of hopelessness is overwhelming, too. Instead of proposed nuclear power being the topic of the week, it's Tiger Woods' apology to the nation for his infidelity. Seriously. Look at the trending topics on Twitter. Check out the news page on just about any feed. It's a little too early for Brian Williams here in California, but I feel pretty confident that even he is going to be talking about the press conference held today so Tiger could apologize to us, to you and me, about the mismanagement of his penis. Not these huge decisions that are being made that could affect the health of Americans for more generations that we can currently fathom.
Blah Blah Blah.
So, that's hippie cause numero uno this week. Please google 'nuclear energy', do your own research and come to a conclusion on your own. Feel free to leave a comment if you disagree. I'm sure there is more I can learn, or perhaps I could school you. I do love a good debate, and this is something that needs to be discussed.
Hippie cause number two this week is eating local food that's sustainable. Here's a blog about the idea. Make sure to check out the Ten Reasons To Eat Local page, which I found really compelling.
I got interested in eating locally and sustainably watching The Daily Show. Seriously. In January Michael Pollan made an appearance and everything he talked about really hit home. I've always been super freaked out by American cheese, which isn't really cheese, because it labels itself a "food product." Creepy. That means that it's edible and not entirely dissimilar from cheese. Anyhoo, he touched on the phenomenon of having to describe something edible as a "food product" on the show. And it struck a chord. And I've been researching and implementing ever since.
I mean, I'd like to think that I'm fairly healthy with my food choices. Ice cream is my kryptonite, but since moving to California 5 years ago my eating habits have improved tremendously. (The idea of veggies in Louisiana is fried okra or french fries!) "In Defense of Food" and all of the Eat Local movements have really opened my eyes. I'll continue to share stuff here as I come across it, and hope that you'll share whatever information you run across with me.
Well, that seems like enough seriousness for one post! I must warn you, though, I think that my blog is probably going to be mostly personal rants and observations about politics, religion and pop culture from here on out. I know that my blog has been a place to find bondage and fetish smut, but I'm moving all of that over to a new blog- BondageCompendium.com. I like ranting and raving, and if you're interested in smut why would you want to read my babble about organic dairy farming or lavender production in California or what's happening on this weeks' episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker? Hence the separation. I'll certainly post here when I've updated over there, but I'm not going to have this blog be pornoriffic. I hope you don't mind.
Let's move on to the pop culture!
Specifically, The Bachelor. So, are you a fan of Vienna or Tenley? I always sympathize with the crazy, so I'm rooting for Vienna. I hate to admit this, but I'm actually looking forward to the final rose ceremony. This is the first season I've ever paid attention to, and it's probably going to be the last, but it's fun.
Wow. I really rambled this evening. I have to get going and get dinner made. I'm making veggie stir fry and wild rice this evening. TMS should be here soon, and then we're going to go to the gym and catch up on Human Target. (I'm iffy on it. Not enough character background development, but we're going to give it a season.)
I'm a pretty dull fabulous person!
Good night and good luck, y'all.

Yay for The Saints and New Orleans! Go Louisiana! Woot Woot! Who Dat?!!?? *insert jazz hands and jumping for joy here*

On a somber note, WTF Alexander McQueen? You will be missed. Even people who weren't "into" fashion were "into" you. That, too, would've passed and I'm sorry you had to go. I certainly feel for his family and friends.

In my direct universe, this week has been pretty good. TMS was out of town until Monday, but that didn't put a damper on my weekend! I went to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica on Saturday with Eden Wells. It was AMAZING. I really wasn't expecting that much spectacular. People from all over the country were hawking their wares and most of it was in top notch condition. The hats, the gloves, the shoes... Vintage shoes and hats are sooo tiny and cute! I have average sized hands and feet, but looking at vintage always makes me feel like a monster. And the hats were adorable! All of them! There were a few booths dedicated to hats and it was just short of overwhelming. The fashion was above and beyond any expectation I may have had as well. The examples from every decade since the late 1800's were stunning. Each decade was accounted for and represented. Night gowns, evening dresses, day dresses, suits... There wasn't a lot of lingerie or undergarments, which I found a bit surprising. I was especially amused by the late '60's fashion. The bright colors and quilting and embellishing is sooo fun! I don't think I could pull that particular look off, but it was fun to pretend and joke about throwing jello mold heavy dinner parties. Eden and I also ran into fetish icon Anastasia Pierce at the expo. She looked as lovely as ever, and I checked out her website when I got home. It's completely revamped from the last time I took a gander. Go check it out! Beyond Eden and Anastasia I didn't spot any celebrities, but stylists were out in droves. Sour puss females in Uggs sipping venti starbucks coffee and immaculately dressed males with a bit of eyeliner on milled about, both consulting day-runner type planners and making phone calls with a sense of urgency. Good times.

As an aside, I hate Uggs. They are, well, ugly. They look frumpy no matter what and ladies seem so comfortable pairing them with everything. It's too much.

Another thing that I noticed that was a bit disturbing- All of the '80's clothes! I can't believe the '80's are already vintage! I REMEMBER THE '80'S!! Eeeeekk!!

Happy Superbowl Sunday, y'all! Geaux Saints! Who dat? Woot Woot!!

I'm recording the game, as TMS is out of the country until tomorrow and we're going to watch it together, but I can't wait to see who wins! I'm so proud of the Saints and think that this is just what New Orleans (and the rest of Louisiana) needed. My friends from back home have been so enthusiastic and "together" on this. Also, the NFL is trying to claim that they own "Who dat?", which is pretty ridiculous. If you have a moment, please sign this petition and help the people of Louisiana keep the phrase in their possession.

I know I haven't been very good about blogging lately. I obviously haven't had much to report in the way of bondage/fetish action and it's documentation, and I've been a little unsure about whether anyone is interested in my non-bdsm ramblings. To tell you the truth, most of my time lately has been spent looking for a job, watching tv and catching up on back issues of National Geographic. (They've sort of piled up over the last six months.)

The job hunt hasn't been going so well, but I think it's just the economy. Until I find employment I'm going to be volunteering with The Red Cross here in SoCal. I looked into tons of volunteer opportunities and I think that The Red Cross is the best fit for me. I also feel really drawn to animal shelters, but I'm afraid that would result in becoming a cat lady before my time. I'm really excited about this new chapter in my life and hope that I do a good job! Most of the other volunteer opportunities seemed to be tied to religion, and I didn't want that to become an issue. For them, or me. I didn't really want to be asked about it or asked to espouse any particular belief system.

As for television, I've mostly found it depressing lately. Even the guests on The Daily Show have been a downer, especially the political ones. Most of the shows I watch are based in news and politics and that's just a depressing scene at the moment. I believe that the past year could have been used more effectively by the democrats and wish they would pull their heads out of their asses and band together for the greater good. For all of the idealogical spouting of the "left wing" they sure are selfish. The republicans were able to get shit done both before and after Clinton was in office, not because they were in agreement about everything all the time, but because they were able to compromise within their own party and play the game when neccessary. I fully understand that the system shouldn't work that way, but it does. For the betterment of the nation the liberals need to just swallow their pride and push things through. If everyone can't agree on every little thing in every little bit of legislation, they at least need to agree on the big picture and I think that's really been lost. The democratic party is far too inclusive and because of that broad spectrum of beliefs they're not getting a goddamn thing done. What happened to universal healthcare? Blah Blah Blah. And don't even get me started on financial reform. Two of my credit cards have interest rates above 35% and will not let me "close" the card until they're paid off. I've spent the last year making double the minimum on one and over the minimum on the other and it hasn't made much of a dent. I've called both companies and tried to figure out how to lower the interest rates and they've both told me that it's just how it is. (One company told me that verbatim.) Oh, yeah, and both of the banks behind the companies received TARP assistance. Seriously. And most major credit card companies are in the process of hiking interest fees before some new legislation comes into play on the 22nd of this month. The reasoning behind the hikes, according to various statements, is to recoup money lost from people who can't or won't pay their credit card bills on time or at all. So, basically, they're punishing people who are making payments and have active accounts for those who aren't making payments. And the hikes in interest rates aren't based on whether you've paid your bill or not. Not in all cases, anyway. If nothing else, this is a total wake up call for the nation, not only myself. People across the country are refusing to engage these giants anymore and it's a good thing. Seriously, if the big banks are going to show their "appreciation" of the help given to them by the American tax payers by refusing to lend money to small businesses and by hiking the interest rates as much as humanly possible on credit cards and loans across the board, why are we, the American people, supporting them in any way? There is a movement that's taking place across that country that I'm way supportive of and I encourage you to check it out. Called "Move Your Money," the basic premise is to not show support for companies that aren't meeting our needs as consumers. And that's what we are. Consumers. That seems to get lost in the shuffle. For the past two years different phrases that make us feel beholden to these corporate giants (like "too big to fail") have been thrown our way and repeated ad nauseum. Well, what if they were made smaller? They can be if we stop investing in them. And that's what putting your money in a bank account is. It's investing in that particular product. If a clothing or food brand turned out to be harmful to our overall health we would be in an uproar. It doesn't make sense that we'll accept harmful treatment from these banking giants so silently. It's frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I've certainly contributed to it. I've kept my money in a bank that didn't look at me like a customer and have two credit cards with two large banks. I have made mistakes and not only are they affecting all of us by being part of the problem, but they're affecting my personal financial future. I am certain that I will be able to get out of this on a personal level, although it may take me a while, but I sincerely hope that we, unlike the democratic politicians in Washington, can affect some change by banding together. And this seems like a relatively simple place to start. So, please go check out Move Your Money and act appropriately. As cheesy as it sounds, we can and do make a difference individually.

So, there's my public service announcement for the week. LOL. It just seems like such a simple solution to a problem that's so prevalent.

I meant for this to be a quick update, and it's turned into quite the rant! At least I was productive, though. And didn't bring up Sarah Palin. Or the recent Supreme Court ruling. I will try to update again soon, but no promises.

I just spent a freaking hour updating my blog and talking about my awesome trip to Big Sur this weekend and when I hit "post" the whole fucking thing disappeared. I do not have the patience to rewrite all of it. Here is the photo I uploaded. It's our view from breakfast at Bixby Bridge.

recently asked questions

Wow. My last entry was kinda cunty, eh? I just got overwhelmed. I've gotten shitty notes ever since I started my career, and I imagine most models get the occasional hater writing to them, but today was too much. Someone (who I'm pretty sure is in the industry and I'm also pretty sure who it is based on the writing style) also wrote me and told me that it was "unfair" for me to launch my site now that I've stopped shooting hardcore. Whatevs. I've spent the last few years collecting content and I intend to use it.

Blah Blah.

K. I'll stop now and get on with the other stuff.

In addition to shitty notes I've also gotten lots of awesome and supportive notes. And many of them contain questions or assumptions that I want to go ahead and clear up.

First and foremost, I want to make it clear that just because I'm not doing shoots right now that I haven't left the "scene." BDSM and fetish are integral to my personality and lifestyle. I can't imagine not participating in fetish parties and events. Believe you me, dressing inappropriately and causing a ruckus are still on both my long term and short term agendas. A few people assumed that I got some God and was against the industry or porn in general, which isn't the case at all. I love bondage, high heels, latex, corsets and D/s and have no problem with porn or those who make it.

I am also still offering my services as a dominatrix to those who have the ability to read the directions on my "Serving Berlin" page, pay my tribute and keep me interested. I am also still available as a rigger or director for pornographic productions. I am also still available as a performer or host for events within the United States and will be available for international performances in 2011.

In other words, I'm not disappearing, just shifting gears to accommodate my relationship. And let me address that, too. My significant other is not "making" me quit porn. He's inspired me to be monogomous. We've always sort of been in a situation where monogamy wasn't possible due to my career path and his other relationships. There's been quite a bit of shifting around over the past couple of months and we've always talked about monogamy as something we've wanted to try. The opportune time has come and we're giving it a go. We were together when I decided to do mainstream adult and he's always been supportive. The choice was just as much mine as it was his. So there.

Ppppttthhhbbbtttt!!!!!

Oh. And one other thing. I don't have a profile on collarme.com or bondage.com. My only fetish related profile is on fetlife.com. I keep getting notes about someone pretending to be me and setting up dates or having online relationships. I'm both flattered and creeped out. But that's what happens when you stick your boobs on the internet!

And so it goes.

Good night and good luck.

terms of endearment
Thursday, January 28, 2010, 05:48 PM -

So, what is up with the hate mail and shitty comments since my last post? Calling me a whore in an anonymous email isn't going to make me commit suicide or reconsider my position on my personal on-screen involvement in hardcore pornography, so I'm not exactly sure what the point is. I've gotten not-so-nice notes since I put myself out there in the online world of fetish/bondage/adult modeling and have always ignored it, but the sheer volume over the past two weeks or so has just been phenomenal and I couldn't let it go. Since it would take WAY too long to reply to each and every instance of hate mail, and I'd rather waste my time screwing around on Twitter or watching Jerry Springer, allow me to respond here-

Dear Anonymous-
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to tell me that A) I'm ugly B) I'm going to hell C) That I'm a disgusting whore. I appreciate that you care enough to let me know what you're thinking! I put myself out there in a public forum because, well, I'm an exhibitionist!
Anonymous, let me reassure you that your opinion matters. From the tone of your note I imagine that you live in a world where, maybe, you don't feel like you're actually heard. Let me assure you that is not the case with me. I cherish your little note and will keep it always.
I know that attacking people you don't know on the internet is a difficult thing to do and that there are only so many hours in a day. I am flattered that you have chosen to spend some of your valuable time writing little ol me!
Good luck in all of your future endeavors!
As Always
Mz B.

And now back to your regularly scheduled program...
